My Art-106 Professor tasked us with creating a Type Pattern to push our design skills. Here is a glimpse into my design journey.
I wanted a design that was intricate yet allowed the text to remain visible but somewhat obscured. I began with a prominent cursive 'S', as depicted below.
Following the initial draft, I concluded that the selected font was too heavy. I returned to the drawing board and discovered a different font. Consequently, I opted for a new letter 'E' due to its intriguing design.
I opted for the letter E as it seemed more interesting. Selecting the pattern in the bottom left corner, I began arranging it to create a more intricate intertwining effect.
So, I thought, why not add some color to spice things up a bit? You might have noticed my love for E.T. on my page. That's why I went with a yellow dot for the 'E' to represent his glowing finger. And then I chose purple and blue to give a nod to the night sky where he comes from. Instead of just going with one solid color for the 'E', I went for a mix of purple and blue to make it more interesting.
Here is the final outcome! Do you believe we successfully incorporated E.T. into our Type pattern, even though it wasn't the initial intention? Do you think it was a wise decision to veer away from the original draft? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
